Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October, 1964. She is an American politician. Harris is the first vice president to be female and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as also the first African American and second Asian American vice president. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally, she served as a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As a senator, she advocated for reforms to healthcare, federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. Her most well-known accomplishments are her direct questions to Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
